From the abstract of Maappila/Muslim theyyam we have seen that muslims are devoted and performed as theyyams. Not only males, some of the Muslim femals as well are performed as theyyam. One such theyyam where the female Muslims are performed as theyyam is Ummachi theyyam. Yogiyar theyyam, who is a martial arts expert and skillfull fighter, gets converted to ummachi theyyam at the end of its performance. Story dates back to olden days in Neeleswaram, Kasargode district of Kerala. There was a royal family in Neeleswaram whose protector was Yogiyar.
