There was a lady who did not repent or cry when her kids died. She was baptised as stone hearted and was made to walk with a pot of fire on her head. She fell into a pond and was dead. A lot of bad omen and incidences happened in that area after this. Jyothishis analysed the situation and found that the solution lies in performing the lady as theyyam. The bank of pond is coloqually called "Thottum Kara". As the incidence is associated with the pond , this theyyam is called "Thottum kara Bhagavathy".
